FAQs

What is my training approach?

I use force-free, reward-based, positive reinforcement techniques. This means I reward “good” behavior rather than punish “bad” behavior. I will help you understand your dog better, and training will become so much easier and faster. Training is conducted fear free and happens without aversive equipment like shock or prong collars.

I will help you identify and meet your dog’s needs in a species appropriate way. Oftentimes, “bad” behaviors disappear when needs are met.

The difference to most other trainers:

  • I will help you identify and meet your dog’s needs in a species appropriate way. Oftentimes, “bad” behaviors disappear when needs are met
  • Form a Connection with your dog
  • Boost your dog’s Confidence
  • Get your dog to Cooperate
  • Teach your dog how to behave in certain situations rather than tell them what not to do
  • One on one sessions speed up training success.
  • We are able to minimize distractions, control the environment and allow you and your dog to be more relaxed, a great foundation for learning!
  • We will work at your and your dog’s pace
  • Training is entirely customized to your needs
  • The flexibility to meet based on YOUR schedule
  • Clear explanations of why behaviors happen
  • Step-by-step training plans using R+ methods
  • Coaching for humans as well as dogs
  • Practical skills you can use in daily life

We work collaboratively—supporting your dog’s choices, reinforcing progress, and building skills that last.

What will our first session look like?

  • Initially, we will schedule a 90 min visit in your home where I will get to know you and your dog better.
  • During this visit, we will establish goals and I will design a training plan tailored to your situation.
  • We will start training right away to get you moving in the right direction.
  • You will receive a written copy of the training plan.
  • We will decide how many sessions may be necessary to achieve the desired outcome.
  • After each subsequent session, you will receive a written summary with exercise descriptions, resource links and videos, when applicable.

Group classes can be great for dogs that already learned some fundamental skills and are okay in the presence of other dogs.

From time to time, I offer group classes that address different topics like:

  • Beyond Obedience – How to take your dog anywhere
  • Puppy Class – Have fun learning how to help your puppy grow into a lovable adult
  • Brewery Manners – A class focused on specific behaviors
  • Trick Training – Improve your bond and learn a new fun skill
  • Cross Dogging – The hot new dog sport from Germany
